About Hooj

Hooj started with campus resale. It grew into a place for campus life.

Where it stands

Hooj is an independent campus app built in Urbana-Champaign and launching first at UIUC.

Why it expanded

Selling one thing exposed a much bigger campus problem.

The first version of Hooj focused on campus resale. Finishing the exchange meant building the parts that listings alone leave behind: offers, messages, meetup plans, payment choices, and a clear ending.

Events and organizations broke apart in the same way. Hooj grew around one idea: keep discovery and the real plan connected.

Built close to the problem

One campus. One working product. A lot left to learn.

I began Hooj as a better way for students to buy and sell nearby. Building the complete exchange exposed a broader problem: campus activity loses its usefulness when discovery, conversation, and the real plan live in separate places.

Hooj is being built independently and prepared for its first launch at UIUC.
