Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 16, 2026

Hooj is built to help campus communities buy and sell safely. These Community Guidelines outline the behavior we expect from everyone using the platform.

By using Hooj, you agree to treat other users respectfully, communicate honestly, and follow these guidelines when listing, messaging, and completing transactions.

1. Be Respectful

Treat other users with respect. Harassment, threats, hate speech, discrimination, or abusive behavior are not allowed on Hooj.

Healthy negotiation and disagreement are normal in a marketplace, but communication must remain respectful and appropriate.

2. Post Honest Listings

Listings should accurately represent the item being sold. Users should provide truthful descriptions, real photos, and honest information about condition, functionality, and ownership.

  • Do not misrepresent the condition of an item.
  • Do not use stolen images or misleading photos.
  • Do not list items you do not actually own or have permission to sell.

3. Communicate Clearly

Buyers and sellers should communicate clearly and honestly when negotiating offers, arranging meetups, or discussing payment.

Avoid spam messages, misleading offers, or pressuring other users into transactions.

4. Prioritize Safety

Many transactions involve meeting in person. For safety, we recommend that users:

  • Meet in well-lit public locations.
  • Bring a friend when possible.
  • Verify the item before completing payment.
  • Avoid sharing unnecessary personal information.

Hooj does not supervise in-person exchanges and users are responsible for exercising reasonable caution when meeting others.

5. Respect Campus Communities

Hooj is designed for campus communities. Users should act in ways that support a positive and trustworthy environment for fellow students.

Behavior that harms the trust of the community — including scams, harassment, or repeated dishonesty — may result in account restrictions or removal.

6. Reporting, Blocking, and Safety Tools

If you encounter suspicious listings, scams, harassment, abusive behavior, or other objectionable content, please use Hooj’s in-app reporting tools to report the listing or user.

Users can also block other users in the app. Blocking removes that user’s content from view and prevents further interaction through Hooj.

We review reports of objectionable content and abusive behavior and aim to take appropriate action, including content removal or account suspension, within 24 hours.

You can also contact us at: support@hooj.app

7. Enforcement

Violations of these Community Guidelines may result in actions including:

  • Listing removal
  • Warnings or temporary restrictions
  • Account suspension
  • Permanent account removal

We reserve the right to take action where necessary to maintain a safe and trustworthy platform.

8. Relationship to Other Policies

These Community Guidelines work alongside our Terms of Service and Prohibited Items Policy.

Users must comply with all platform policies when using Hooj.
