01

What this policy covers

This policy applies to listings, descriptions, photos, messages, offers, services, subleases, tickets, meetup arrangements, payment requests, and attempts to move a prohibited transaction outside Hooj.

Sellers and service providers are responsible for confirming that an offer is lawful in every relevant location and permitted by any owner, issuer, lease, license, campus, venue, or professional rule. Hooj's categories, publishing tools, verification, or payment availability do not approve a transaction.

The examples below are not exhaustive. Hooj may restrict a transaction that creates material legal, fraud, safety, payment, or community risk even when it is not named explicitly.

02

Illegal, stolen, and counterfeit goods

Do not list anything that is illegal to possess, advertise, sell, rent, distribute, import, export, or transfer. This includes:

  • Stolen property or property obtained through fraud.
  • Counterfeit, pirated, bootleg, or unauthorized replica goods.
  • Forged identification, credentials, permits, records, certificates, or official documents.
  • Burglary tools, theft devices, or goods intended primarily to facilitate unlawful conduct.
  • Items with removed, altered, or misleading serial numbers or ownership markings.
  • Government, campus, employer, organization, or rental property that the seller may not transfer.

Lost property is not yours to sell. Use the appropriate owner, campus, building, transit, or law-enforcement process to return it.

03

Weapons and dangerous items

Hooj does not allow firearms, ammunition, explosives, or items primarily designed to injure people. Prohibited examples include:

  • Firearms, firearm frames or receivers, ammunition, magazines, and essential weapon components.
  • Explosives, fireworks, destructive devices, detonators, and instructions or kits intended to create them.
  • Switchblades, disguised weapons, brass knuckles, stun weapons, and other weapons restricted by Hooj.
  • Weapon modifications, conversion devices, suppressors, and accessories intended to evade legal controls.
  • Military, police, or security equipment whose transfer is unlawful or creates a material impersonation risk.

Ordinary household, sporting, or utility items may still be removed when the listing promotes their use as weapons or presents a credible safety threat.

04

Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and intoxicants

Do not use Hooj to offer, request, exchange, deliver, or promote:

  • Illegal drugs, controlled substances, cannabis or cannabis products, or drug analogues.
  • Prescription medication, prescription-only products, or medication prescribed to another person.
  • Drug paraphernalia intended for illegal use or products marketed to defeat drug testing.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, vaping products, or related age-restricted products.
  • Misrepresented supplements, intoxicating substances, or products marketed for unsafe ingestion or inhalation.

Hooj may prohibit these categories even where a product is legal for some adults or licensed businesses. Campus access and age verification are not retail licenses.

05

Health, medical, and bodily goods

Do not list regulated or unsafe health products that require professional authorization, controlled handling, or claims Hooj cannot responsibly support. This includes:

  • Prescription devices, controlled medical equipment, unapproved drugs, or products requiring a prescription.
  • Human organs, tissue, blood, bodily fluids, remains, or services involving their sale.
  • Used cosmetics, opened personal-care products, contaminated items, or goods recalled for health or safety reasons.
  • Food, supplements, or health products that are adulterated, expired, improperly stored, or marketed with deceptive medical claims.
  • Professional medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other regulated services offered without required qualifications or authorization.

Ordinary sealed personal-care products or lawful non-prescription items may be listed only when safe, accurately described, and permitted by applicable rules.

06

Financial instruments and deceptive transactions

Hooj is not a venue for unlicensed financial activity, laundering, gambling, or high-risk cash equivalents. Do not list or solicit:

  • Cash, counterfeit currency, money orders, checks, payment credentials, or access to financial accounts.
  • Cryptocurrency, securities, investments, loans, credit repair, pyramid schemes, or guaranteed-return opportunities.
  • Gift cards, stored-value cards, promotional credits, loyalty points, or payment accounts where ownership and balance cannot be safely verified.
  • Raffles, gambling, betting, or chance-based sales unless expressly supported by Hooj and lawful.
  • Requests to route, receive, refund, or withdraw money for another person without a genuine supported transaction.

Do not disguise a money transfer as a listing or use Hooj Pay to process unrelated activity. See Payments, Refunds, and Disputes.

07

Accounts, credentials, and digital access

Do not list accounts, credentials, or digital access that cannot be lawfully and securely transferred. Prohibited examples include:

  • Email, social-media, gaming, school, employment, financial, or subscription accounts.
  • Passwords, authentication codes, API keys, identity documents, or personal datasets.
  • Software, licenses, subscriptions, ebooks, media, or digital goods when transfer violates the owner's terms or intellectual-property rights.
  • Malware, phishing tools, exploits, stolen data, scraping access, or services intended to compromise systems or privacy.
  • Access to private groups, buildings, events, classes, systems, or communities without authorization.

A transferable physical item that includes software must still comply with the software license and be reset so the buyer does not receive another person's private data.

08

Services and academic integrity

Services must be lawful, accurately described, and performed by someone permitted and reasonably able to provide them. Hooj prohibits:

  • Sexual services, escort services, exploitative labor, trafficking, or services involving coercion.
  • Violence, intimidation, surveillance, stalking, unauthorized entry, or other harmful acts for hire.
  • Completing graded work, taking exams, selling active exam answers, fabricating records, or otherwise facilitating academic dishonesty.
  • Unlicensed regulated services where a license, permit, insurance, or professional authorization is required.
  • Fake employment, reshipping schemes, advance-fee jobs, recruitment scams, or services designed to obtain personal or financial information.
  • Automated engagement, fake followers, fraudulent reviews, referral manipulation, or other platform manipulation for hire.

Tutoring, editing, creative work, moving help, photography, and similar services may be allowed when lawful and not used to misrepresent another person's authorship, qualifications, or work.

09

Subleases and housing offers

A sublease or housing-related listing must be genuine, authorized, and accurately describe the property, dates, price, fees, room, amenities, occupancy, and material restrictions.

  • Do not list a property you do not control or lack permission to sublease.
  • Do not collect deposits for nonexistent, duplicated, unavailable, or materially misrepresented housing.
  • Do not conceal mandatory fees, material defects, occupancy limits, lease restrictions, or the identity of the responsible property party.
  • Do not use discriminatory language or eligibility restrictions that violate applicable housing law.
  • Do not present Hooj, school affiliation, or profile verification as a property inspection or housing guarantee.

Hooj does not verify title, landlord consent, lease enforceability, habitability, or legal compliance merely because a listing is visible.

10

Tickets and admission

Lawfully transferable third-party tickets may be listed only when the seller controls a valid ticket, transfer is permitted, and the listing accurately states the event, date, seat or access, restrictions, delivery method, and total price.

  • Do not sell fake, duplicated, cancelled, already-used, speculative, or non-transferable tickets.
  • Do not evade issuer rules, identity checks, price restrictions, or applicable ticket-resale laws.
  • Do not list credentials, wristbands, student IDs, or access methods that require impersonation or unauthorized use.
  • Do not transfer a Hooj-issued event ticket through an unsupported marketplace listing or outside flow.

Hooj event admission is governed by the Event and Ticket Terms. Marketplace visibility does not validate a third-party ticket.

11

Unsafe, recalled, and restricted goods

Do not offer goods that create an unreasonable safety, environmental, transportation, or regulatory risk, including:

  • Recalled products, dangerously modified goods, or items missing essential safety components.
  • Hazardous chemicals, toxic materials, biological materials, pesticides, flammable fuels, or controlled laboratory supplies.
  • Animals, wildlife, protected species, animal parts, or live-animal sales.
  • Personal information, surveillance data, keys, access cards, uniforms, or devices that create a material security risk.
  • Products subject to shipping, age, registration, or transfer requirements that the proposed Hooj exchange cannot satisfy.

If an item becomes recalled, unsafe, illegal, unavailable, or non-transferable after publishing, archive the listing and do not complete the exchange.

12

Reporting and enforcement

Report a suspected prohibited listing through the in-app report action. For urgent danger, contact emergency services rather than waiting for Hooj. More guidance appears in Safety and Reporting.

Hooj may reject or remove a listing, limit discovery, cancel related access, restrict transactions, preserve records, suspend payment functionality, warn or restrict an account, or permanently terminate access. We may act without completing a transaction or proving criminal conduct when a listing creates unacceptable policy, safety, fraud, or legal risk.

If you are unsure whether something is permitted, contact support@hooj.app before publishing. Include the category and a clear description, but do not send illegal media, credentials, or complete financial information.
